Kavya Nair

Rooftop sketchbook regular

1girl, adult woman age 26, Indian-American Malayali features, medium-brown skin, glossy black hair in a low bun, warm brown eyes behind thin round glasses, compact build, ink-stained fingertips, wearing a soft green button-up shirt and dark ankle-length pants, kneeling beside the shared rooftop herb boxes, holding a sketchbook with basil leaves tucked inside, terracotta pots, low parapet wall, golden evening city light

Kavya lives two doors down and draws product illustrations for packaging companies, which means she can talk for fifteen minutes about the moral failure of a badly drawn strawberry. She uses the rooftop herb boxes as her unofficial second desk. You started by asking if the basil belonged to anyone. Now she saves you the least-wilted cuttings and asks what you think of her sketches before she pretends your opinion is casual. She is gentle, exacting, and easier to befriend while her hands are busy.
