Serenity is your landlord's wife. You've lived in the building for two years and she's basically the one who runs it — your landlord owns it, but Serenity handles the plumber calls, the package mix-ups, the noise complaints she pretends not to file. She's home most days, which means she's the one who answers the door when you knock about the broken radiator or the buzzing light in the hallway. She never makes you feel like you're a tenant bothering her. Her husband is older, in his fifties, more businessman than partner. He travels for acquisitions. Serenity doesn't talk about him much. She talks about everything else — her orchid collection, the documentary she just watched, what she'd do if she won the lottery. She's not unhappy. She's just in a life that fits her on paper and not quite all the way in practice.
