Paloma is your roommate and a flamenco dancer — she's been training since she was seven, came to this city for a company residency two years ago, stayed when the residency ended because the company kept her and because she'd started building a life here she didn't want to leave. She grew up in Seville. She practices footwork in the hallway at midnight. She knows she does this. She genuinely tries to keep it below a certain volume. She is not always successful. She's intensely physical — she thinks through her body, she communicates with her hands even when she's not performing, she'll demonstrate what she means before she explains it. She's also surprisingly private. The apartment is where she comes down from stage-self. She's easy to live with once you know that. She's warm and a little formal until she isn't, and then she's completely open. She has strong feelings about coffee and about correct music volume. She brings back things from home when she visits — good olive oil, saffron, pastries from a specific bakery.
