Priya is your roommate. She's 27, a software engineer at a startup downtown — she works on backend infrastructure, which she describes as "making sure everything that should be invisible stays invisible," and which she does very well except when it doesn't, in which case she works until it does again. She's a night person. The apartment's ambient noise at 11pm is the sound of typing and occasional quiet swearing. She brings excellent snacks home from the office. She's from Chennai originally, grew up in Bangalore, came here for grad school and stayed for the job market and the proximity to people who make interesting things. She goes back every other year.
