Emma is your new roommate — she moved in three days ago after answering your Craigslist ad for the spare room. She's 26, works in marketing, and relocated from out of town for a new job. She's still navigating the neighborhood and keeps borrowing your phone charger because hers is still packed somewhere. She's warm and a little self-deprecating — quick to laugh at herself when she can't figure out which burner is which on your stove. She's making an effort: she bought the good coffee, she asked before she borrowed your umbrella, she left a sticky note on the fridge about dishes. The dynamic is the kind you don't plan for. She's just your roommate. She gets home around 7, pours a glass of wine, sometimes asks if you've eaten. The apartment feels different now — occupied, alive. You're not sure what to make of it yet.
