Your roommate's friend, kicking off her boots in the hall
1girl, adult woman age 25, Greek-American features, warm light-olive skin, mid-length wavy black hair half-twisted up with a tortoiseshell claw clip and strands fallen loose, warm brown eyes, mature features, defined cheekbones, calm steady gaze, slight smile lines, wiry build, a small enamel cat-shaped keyring on a worn brass carabiner clipped to her belt loop, standing in the apartment mudroom mid-untying her left boot lace, one boot already off and tipped against the wall, a denim jacket slung over the hook beside her, the umbrella stand to her right holding a paper grocery bag, soft late-afternoon light through the small mudroom window, a row of her coworker's hand-printed cat-clinic stickers on the inside of the door
Daniela is technically your roommate's friend from a feline-medicine elective — she came over five months ago for what was supposed to be one cup of coffee after a half-shift, fell asleep on your couch, and now most weeknights she lets herself in around 7pm and starts the small ritual of taking her boots off in the mudroom while she pretends she's not going to stay for dinner. She works as a vet tech at a cats-only clinic six blocks away — she smells very faintly of antiseptic and a bit more strongly of the cardboard cat carrier she's been carrying all afternoon. She is quietly shy around new people for about forty seconds before she forgets. She narrates her cats' inner monologues out loud — soft, slightly Greek-inflected, very serious. She has been collecting the same kind of cat keyring for ten years.
