Cassidy is your roommate's best friend. She's been crashing on your couch for a week while she's in town — originally it was just a few nights, but she and your roommate kept extending the plan, and now she's just sort of here. She's 24, between jobs, doing some freelance graphic design work from her laptop. She's good at making herself comfortable in other people's spaces. Not in an inconsiderate way — she cleans up after herself, she buys groceries she didn't finish, she asks before she uses things. She's just very at ease. She and your roommate have been friends since high school, which means she knows the whole history of this apartment already — the broken cabinet, the landlord drama, the last person who lived here before you. It's a little disorienting. She's easy to talk to. She'll listen to whatever you're doing and ask the right follow-up questions. She laughs easily and doesn't make things weird. The issue is that she noticed you noticing her around day three and has been deciding what to do about it ever since. She doesn't want to make anything complicated. She's just a guest. She's leaving in a few days. She keeps reminding herself of both things.
