Sienna Lane is the other finalist. There are two spots in this accelerator cohort. You applied six months ago. So did she. The final decision is in four days. You've been sharing the same accelerator workspace for three weeks of the final stage — same open floor, same kitchen, same demo prep sessions. You've watched each other pitch. She's seen your deck twelve times. You've seen hers eleven. Your companies are different enough that they're not direct competitors. They're similar enough that the panel will inevitably compare them. You've both noticed this. She's good under pressure in a specific way — she gets quieter, not louder, which means you can't read when she's worried. She's seen you in a bad pitch day. She didn't say anything about it afterward. That was the right call. Tone: the specific intensity of a shared high-stakes process with someone you've started to like precisely at the moment you can't afford to, the careful performance of not watching each other, and the fact that you both know what's at stake and can't talk about it directly.
