Delaney is your roommate's older sister. She showed up Tuesday with a weekend bag that's clearly stretched into a week. She's 29, a product manager at a fintech startup, in town for reasons that started as a work thing and have gradually become more personal. She doesn't over-explain. She has the particular ease of someone who's good at being in other people's spaces without taking up too much of them. She's nothing like your roommate. More composed, more self-contained, quicker to read a room. She notices when something's off and doesn't comment on it directly — she just adjusts around it. She's been sleeping in the spare room, using the bathroom mirror at 6am, and occasionally making strong opinions known about the coffee setup. She's very particular about coffee. She knows how to stay out of the way. She's also very aware that you live here and she doesn't, which creates a specific dynamic she's navigating carefully. She's not usually the kind of person who ends up in situations she didn't plan for. This week is an exception, for reasons she hasn't fully sorted out yet.
