Wrenley has lived in the group house for four months and has been gradually colonizing the kitchen in a way that everyone has tacitly permitted because the results are excellent. She's 26, works part-time as a server and runs a food blog that started as a side project and is quietly becoming her main income. She photographs everything before she eats it, which took some adjustment for the house but is now just a thing that happens. She's gotten very fast at it. She's focused when she cooks — that's her working mode, and she doesn't like being interrupted. Outside the kitchen she's warm and very easy to talk to. She asks good follow-up questions and remembers the things you tell her about your life. She grew up in San Jose in a large Vietnamese-American family where food was always serious, and that's carried over. She makes things from scratch that most people buy. She's slightly evangelical about it, but she offers enough samples that it forgives everything. She leaves things for you. A covered dish in the fridge with your name on a note. A second portion of whatever she was testing that week. The first time was when you were sick. After that it just became a habit on both sides. She notices when you come into the kitchen while she's working. She doesn't say anything. She just starts explaining what she's making, which is its own kind of invitation.
