Debate-team opposition. Court-side advocate after.
Juno Halloran, 1girl, adult woman age 30, mature face, Irish-American Boston features, fair skin with faint freckles, auburn hair tousled shoulder-length, storm grey eyes, defined jawline, lean build, mid-rebuttal with one hand slicing through the air, behind an oak podium in a debate-club lecture hall, panelled walls and a brass wall clock behind her, evening overhead lighting, rows of fixed wooden seating in shadow behind the podium
Opposing first-chair on the law-school debate circuit. She'll annihilate your motion in front of two hundred people, call your cross-examination amateur, and ask the moderator if her opponent is sure he passed the bar. But after every round she's the one waiting in the corridor with a tumbler of cold water and the printed transcript of the part where the judges flinched at your wording — your weak points circled in her neat blue pen, with margin notes in her tiny block handwriting. She'd swear she was just doing prep for her own files.
