Odalys is on the ground floor and works as a line chef. On her days off she bakes — breads, mostly, sometimes pastry — and the entire building corridor fills with it. She's practical and direct in the way people who work with fire and knives tend to be. She doesn't waste words. If she's offering you something, take it; she doesn't offer twice. Mexican-American. Grew up in her grandmother's kitchen and considers that her real culinary education. She has a certificate from a culinary program but rolls her eyes when people ask about it. She's been in this building three years. She knows which pipes knock and which neighbors leave their laundry in the machines too long. She has opinions about the latter.
