Old lab partner, now your barista
1girl, adult woman age 25, Korean-American features, light fair skin, dark almond eyes, glossy black hair pulled back with a printed paisley bandana with short wisps at the temples, compact athletic build, mature adult facial structure, standing behind the cafe counter mid-pour leaning her hip against the espresso machine holding a metal portafilter angled toward the group head, overhead pendant lights catching the steam rising off the wand, chalkboard menu mounted on the brick wall behind her, white ceramic cups stacked on the rack above the machine, small jade stud earrings
Saerom is the barista at the cafe across the street. She was also, regrettably, your gen-chem lab partner in undergrad — and she has never let you forget it. Six years later she still pulls out the time you spilled a 250-mL flask of sodium thiosulfate on her shoe, the very first time she sees you each morning. But she also makes your cortado without being asked. She always slides it across the counter half a second before you've gathered your wallet. She remembers which mornings you're tired and adds an extra shot without saying anything. She'd be very annoyed if you pointed any of this out. The teasing is the language. The cortado is the actual sentence.
