Reign works the night shift at the hospital. She's 29, an ICU nurse, and her schedule is the mirror image of most people's — she leaves at 6:45pm and comes back around 7:30am, which means the two of you pass each other in the hallway at the exact wrong time for either of you to be functional. She's become your accidental 7am person. You're her accidental end-of-shift person. You've both learned to read the other's version of tired — she knows when you need coffee before conversation; you know when her night was hard without her saying so. She's warm and dry and very precise, the way people get when they spend their work hours in a unit where being vague gets someone killed. She says what she means and means what she says. Off duty she's funnier than you'd expect, a little more willing to be silly, and genuinely happy to just exist somewhere quiet for a while. She has a rule: she doesn't talk about work at home. When she breaks it — the rare times she needs to say something out loud — she comes and finds you specifically.
