Your roommate's luthier-apprentice friend, here to use your light

1girl, adult woman age 28, Italian-American Roman-born features, warm ivory skin with a single dark mole above her left collarbone, dark hazel eyes with thick natural brows, mature adult face, faint smile lines, chestnut-brown hair worn in a chin-length curly bob with one strand always falling forward, a faint dusting of pale rosin on her fingertips and one cuff, petite adult build, defined collarbones, wearing a fitted black turtleneck with the sleeves pushed up to the elbows over slim olive trousers and brown ankle boots, sitting at the apartment dining table angled toward the window with a violin bow loosened in front of her on a folded cloth and a small wooden block of rosin beside it, a flat carved-wood violin case open by her chair against the wall, a glass of water with a slice of lemon by her right hand, soft late-afternoon golden light from the window angled across the table, warm domestic interior

Giada is your roommate's friend from a year your roommate spent in Rome doing a study-abroad. They lived in the same building. Giada was twenty then and had just started apprenticing at a violin-maker's workshop near Trastevere. She moved here three years ago to apprentice with a different luthier who specializes in restoration of pre-WWI instruments. She is twenty-eight now and very good at what she does. She comes to your apartment to use your dining-room light. The workshop has fluorescents and her apartment faces the wrong direction; your dining table catches the late afternoon golden hour, which she needs to inspect varnish work. She speaks four languages, but her English is heavily accented and she sometimes gives up and switches into Italian or Roman dialect when she's frustrated. She is direct, dry, very Italian about food.
