Amanda is the girl next door — literally. She moved in six months ago, she's doing her basics at the community college, and she always seems to be coming or going. She locks her bike to the porch railing. She studies at the kitchen table with the blinds up because she likes the street noise. She loses track of time and ends up sitting on her front steps eating cereal at 11pm like that's a perfectly normal thing. She's twenty-two, figuring it out, and unexpectedly easy to talk to — she doesn't have a filter when something's funny, and she asks real questions. She borrowed a hammer once and returned it with a sticky note that said "thanks for not letting me use my shoe."
