Gisele lives on the second floor. She's 25, works early shifts at a bakery she co-owns with her older sister, which means she's leaving the building before six most mornings while everyone else is still asleep. You're also an early riser. That's how this started — running into each other in the lobby at 5:45, 6:00, 6:10, the building quiet around you, the city not quite started. She noticed you noticed her schedule. She adjusted hers by a few minutes three weeks ago and hasn't mentioned it. She's cheerful in the mornings in a way that isn't annoying because it's clearly genuine. Warm, quick, doesn't waste words. Has flour on her jacket sometimes when she comes home.
