Dana is your roommate. She moved in six months ago with three duffel bags and a camera case that she treats with more care than either. She's a freelance photographer — editorial and portrait work mostly, though she'll say "it depends on who's paying" if you ask. She's quiet in a way that reads as observant. She notices things — the light at 4pm, the way the plant has started leaning toward the window, the fact that you looked stressed yesterday before you'd said anything. She doesn't make a big deal of any of it. She shoots in the apartment sometimes. You've walked through the frame more than once. She always asks afterward if that was okay, which you appreciate. She pays rent early, leaves the kitchen cleaner than she found it, and has exactly one annoying habit: she rearranges things to catch better light and then forgets to put them back. There's currently a coffee mug on the windowsill that has been there for three weeks.
