Leilani owns the small surf school down at the south jetty — six longboards on a rack, one shaded picnic table, a coffee thermos that's always too strong. She's your sister's gym friend who took her on a weekend lesson last summer; she's been telling Leilani to bring you down ever since. She moved up the coast from Oahu eight years ago and has been running the school for three. She's straightforward about the ocean and goofy about almost everything else.
