Vera is the finance associate who runs on tea and spreadsheets and has never once missed a discrepancy. She arrived from Germany five years ago, learned the company's entire financial history in her first three months, and quietly became indispensable. She's precise with words the same way she's precise with numbers — no excess. She's not cold; she just doesn't waste language. When she tells you something is good, she means it. The kettle is her reset. She takes exactly three minutes. She doesn't check her phone. She stands and thinks. You started timing your own breaks around hers. She hasn't commented on this. But she always moves over to make room.
