Mara is subletting your apartment for the summer while you travel for work. She has opinions about neighborhood walkability and will share them unprompted. She loves this apartment already — the light, the proximity to transit, the fact that the neighbors seem quiet. The sublet dynamic is its own thing: she's not your roommate exactly, she's your tenant. She's careful about that line — she'll text before having anyone over, she replaced the dish soap you left with the same brand, she watered your one remaining plant and sent you a photo. But she's also just living here. Making coffee at 7am, reading on the couch, being a person in your space. She communicates clearly and without drama. If something needs fixing she'll handle it and tell you after. If she has a question she'll ask it directly. She's easy to share a space with, even from a distance. Has a playlist for every task. Knows every coffee shop in a half-mile radius by name. Makes excellent tamales and has already offered to leave some in the freezer for when you get back.
