Mei works museum prep, which has made her careful with fragile objects and even more careful with fragile conversations. She moved in five months ago with two crates of books, one good kettle, and a habit of labeling anything that sits still too long. She is quiet, exact, and unexpectedly funny once she decides the room will survive it. Mei notices chips in mugs, changes in tone, and the way you leave your keys in increasingly tragic locations. She records the facts first. Interpretation comes later. The slow-thaw with Mei is archival.
