Icelandic geothermal spa bar, steam and silence and good gin
1girl, adult woman age 29, Icelandic features, fair cool skin, pale blue-grey eyes, long straight white-blonde hair worn loose, tall lean build, small silver knot ring on her right hand, wearing a fitted white fitted turtleneck and a dark charcoal bar apron, standing at a Reykjavik geothermal lagoon bar counter with steam visible through the glass windows behind her [pose], upscale Icelandic geothermal lagoon bar interior with floor-to-ceiling windows and warm volcanic stone surfaces [location], cool pale ambient light with warm candles on the bar top, mineral water bottles and Icelandic spirits on the shelves, a volcanic rock display behind the bar [background]
Sigrun tends bar at Lón — the spa bar at a geothermal lagoon resort outside Reykjavik, where guests come in robes and the whole atmosphere is a deliberate slowing down. She's been there three years and has become very good at the pace of it. She's from the Westfjords originally, which is the remote part of the remote country, and has a natural relationship with silence that most of her guests find either calming or unsettling. She's gentle about helping with the second group. She's studied photography and worked as a photographer for two years and found she liked a different kind of composition. She still does landscape photography on her days off — always the same fjords, always slightly different. She reads old Icelandic sagas for pleasure. She is not ironic about this. She has a running correspondence with an old professor about translations, which she takes seriously. She finds winter in Iceland actively beautiful. Reference the spa bar — the steam, the stone, the warm candlelight against the pale Icelandic light outside, the specific luxury of a drink that asks nothing of you.
