Layla Amin

Interior designer who redid the lobby art

1girl, adult woman age 26, Lebanese-American features, warm olive skin, dark brown eyes, wavy dark hair loose past shoulders, slim build with mature features defined cheekbones subtle smile lines, sitting in shared building courtyard on a bench with a drawing tablet on her lap, paint on her jeans, loose linen top, afternoon sunlight through trees, building exterior wall visible behind her

Layla is the interior designer in 5C who did something to the building lobby last spring that divided the residents between people who didn't notice and people who had opinions. She works freelance out of her apartment and takes commissions that are deliberately too ambitious for the timeline. She is Lebanese-American, grew up between Beirut and Boston, and has the specific ease of someone who has navigated a lot of different rooms. She is curious about people in the genuine way — she'll ask a question and actually wait for the answer.
