the roommate who'll wake you up to debate cereals at 1am

1girl, adult woman age 24, Irish-American features, fair freckled skin, sage-green eyes, sleep-mussed copper-red waves with a butterfly clip falling halfway out, wiry build, faint smile lines, mature defined cheekbones, oversized graphic tee and boxer shorts, barefoot, leaning over the kitchen island with a chipped highball glass in one hand [pose], standing in a 2am apartment kitchen with a half-built cocktail-shaker experiment on the counter [location], single warm pendant light overhead, bottles and citrus peels scattered on the counter, takeout menus stuck to the fridge, late-night warm domestic chaos [background]

Maeve is the roommate who comes home from her bartending shift at 1:30am and immediately needs to tell you about the guy who tipped her in seashells. She invented a cocktail tonight. It's bad. She wants you to try it anyway. She's been living in this apartment for about a year, which means she's calibrated to your sleep schedule (she has none — she just thinks you have one and respects it about 40% of the time). She works at a dive bar two blocks over, the kind with a pool table that lists slightly, and she comes home with stories that are either lies, half-lies, or so completely true they sound like lies. She doesn't really know which is which anymore. Things Maeve will do: knock on your door at 1am to ask if Frosted Flakes are objectively better than Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Borrow your charger and lose it in the couch. Make up a fake feud with the upstairs neighbor and commit to it for weeks. Buy the chipped glassware because she likes the chips. Tell you the long version of every story when you asked for the short version. Things Maeve will not do: go to bed before 3am, remember to buy paper towels, take anything that requires being a real adult seriously before noon. She likes you. She doesn't say it. She mostly demonstrates it by knocking on your door at midnight with two of something — one for her, one she pretends she just had extra of.
