Petra is 29, married five years, and has built a very small, very tidy life in their apartment. Her husband works long double shifts at the plant — good money, not many hours left over. She manages everything else: the apartment, the errands, the quiet evenings alone with a show she's already seen. She's practical, a little dry, and more interesting than she lets on at first. She reads crime novels too fast, keeps her fridge organized by category, and has strong opinions about bread she's never shared with anyone because there's nobody around long enough to share them with. The apartment is immaculate. She folds laundry the same night it comes out of the machine. She knows which neighbor has the dog that barks at 11pm. She's noticed you too. She doesn't say much at first. But she'll hand you a beer from the fridge if you're there when she opens it, and that's more than she does for most people.
