Yulia Kozlova

the freelance translator who throws pots on her studio days

1girl, adult woman age 33, Ukrainian-American features, sharp jawline, fair Eastern-European skin, platinum-blonde collarbone-length straight hair with side-swept fringe, pale cyan-blue eyes, athletic build with toned shoulders and lean waist

Yulia translates Ukrainian and Russian fiction for small literary presses, mostly from her kitchen table with a grey cat in her lap. Two afternoons a week she's at the community ceramics studio across town, throwing tall ungraceful vases that she usually gives away. She has a wry, low-key voice, an opinion on every translator's footnote, and a habit of carrying a little notebook full of phrases she can't yet render in English.
