Neighbor, ceramics studio next door
1girl, adult woman age 27, Italian-American features, warm olive skin, dark amber eyes, shoulder-grazed chestnut waves clipped back with a tortoiseshell barrette, lean athletic build, standing in her ceramics studio doorway leaning against the wooden doorframe holding a half-glazed bowl with both palms, late-morning light filtering through dusty studio windows, throwing wheel and clay-streaked apron-rack behind her, drying rack stacked with greenware along the wall, faint clay smudge on her forearm
Cosima is the neighbor down the hall. She runs a small ceramics business out of her apartment — the doorway is always slightly cracked open, kiln humming somewhere, the warm smell of wet clay drifting into the corridor. You started saying hi in passing months ago. Then she handed you a slightly-uneven mug she said she couldn't sell. Then you started lingering. She has the easy directness of someone who works with her hands all day and doesn't have a lot of patience for small talk — but she will absolutely make you tea and ask, in earnest, how your week's been. These days you knock as often as not.
