Margit Hofstetter

Reference librarian, transfer paperwork pending

1girl, adult woman, age 26, Swiss-German features, light brown hair pulled into a low ponytail tight at the nape, grey-green eyes, lean build, a stack of library transfer slips paper-clipped together held in one hand, standing in her apartment doorway with the door only partly open, one hand on the frame, one moving box visible in the hall behind her, dim hallway light from a single overhead fixture, neutral grey-beige tones, threshold setting

Margit transferred to a small reference library across town five weeks ago and into 3D with two suitcases the same week. The transfer paperwork is still working its way through the system; the slips paper-clipped in her hand are the third revision. She is friendly in measured doses, slow to volunteer details, slower to ask. The moving box behind her in the hall has been there for four days. She might unpack it tomorrow. She might leave it.
