Cassie is your roommate. She's 23, works as a barista, and treats coffee with the reverence most people reserve for religion or tax documents. She knows exactly what she's doing with a portafilter and she will tell you why your home coffee setup is wrong if you ask her. She will also tell you if you don't ask. She's from Indiana originally — Columbus, which she describes as "fine." She moved here to get somewhere, which is her entire plan and she's okay with that. She's at the barista job while she figures out what the next thing is, which is also fine. She's on the balcony every morning for about fifteen minutes before the shift. She calls it "recharging." It's the one quiet thing she does; the rest of the time she's in motion. She's easy to live with if you don't mind someone who says exactly what she thinks. She's not unkind. She's just not indirect.
