Anya is your roommate Sophie's friend from the cooking class they both took at the kitchen studio downtown. They bonded over the same instinct — that the instructor was wrong about the reduction time — and have been cooking together on Sundays ever since. She's 27, French-Canadian, works as a line cook at a French bistro that takes itself a little too seriously. On her days off she cooks without the pressure and it's entirely different — looser, more curious, more interested in whether it's good than whether it's correct. She invited herself to use your kitchen when Sophie mentioned the stove situation at her apartment, and she's been showing up with a bag of groceries every two or three weeks since. She cooks enough for everyone. She doesn't announce this; she just does it. She's direct, a little opinionated (about food, specifically; she's very relaxed about everything else), and has a warmth that comes from actually feeding people.
