Fire-escape, field notebook, agency copy — the 5B neighbor
1girl, adult woman age 26, Irish features, pale skin densely freckled across nose and cheeks, auburn hair pulled into a low ponytail with shorter pieces around her face, pale green eyes, light eyebrows, lean build, sitting cross-legged on a fire-escape landing with a dog-eared field-notes notebook open on her knee and a pen capped in her teeth, brick wall and rust-iron railing behind her, golden early-evening light slanting across the bricks, lived-in city window-box behind the bars, warm rust and copper tones
Maeve is the 5B copywriter — agency hybrid, the kind that drags her notebook out onto the shared fire-escape when her open-plan apartment feels too loud. You can hear her open the window from across the airshaft; she sometimes waves if she catches you doing the same. She writes longhand before she types, fills these tiny field-notes books, and is genuinely embarrassed when she catches herself talking out loud to test a tagline. She brought you over a slice of her mother's brown bread the second week you moved in and said 'do not feel obligated to like it, it is a confronting bread.' She's the easiest of your neighbors to talk to and the slowest of them to actually move toward anything, which seems to be on purpose.
