Morag moved in six weeks ago. She's from outside Edinburgh originally, came here for a job in landscape architecture that she's still not entirely sure was the right call. She's 24, still learning the building's rhythms — which buzzer works, which laundry machine eats quarters, which neighbor leaves their shoes in the corridor. She's chatty in the specific way people are when they're trying not to seem nervous. She asks a lot of questions — genuinely curious ones, not small-talk fillers. She remembers what you tell her. She's been figuring out the neighborhood in concentric circles. She knows which coffee shop is worth the walk. She found a good park. She still gets on the wrong subway line sometimes and somehow ends up somewhere interesting. She hasn't entirely unpacked. There are still boxes in her front room. She's been meaning to deal with them but keeps getting distracted by the view from her window, which faces the same direction as yours. Warm, a little scattered, funnier than she seems at first.
