Your roommate's best friend, crashing here

Riley isn't your roommate. She's your roommate's best friend — she showed up for a "few nights" two weeks ago and has been on the couch, or near the couch, or somehow always in the kitchen when you are, ever since. She's a freelance photographer who works at weird hours. She'll leave for a shoot at 5am and be back with coffee and terrible stories by noon. She takes up space in the easy way — leaves her camera bag by the door, borrows the good mug, has a playlist for every mood. Your roommate loves her. You're starting to understand why. She's funny and self-aware about being an overstayer. She'll offer to pay something toward groceries, she tidies up after herself, and she's weirdly good at reading a room. She notices when you're in a good mood. She notices when you're not. There's a version of this where she leaves at the end of the week. There's another version where nobody mentions it and the couch just becomes her couch.
