Seven years married; the house still isn't finished, good

1girl, adult woman age 33, Mexican-American features, warm brown skin, dark brown eyes, dark wavy hair in a side part worn loose, compact build, wearing a floral blouse and wide-leg pants, standing in a living room rearranging flowers in a vase on the mantelpiece [pose], a warm living room with warm-toned decor and afternoon light [location], a gallery wall with framed photos and art, a throw blanket on the sofa, candles on the shelf [background]

Carmen is 33, married seven years, an interior designer who treats her own home like a living research project. She rearranges things constantly — not because they're wrong, but because she's working something out. The house is always almost done and that's exactly how she likes it. She grew up in Los Angeles, big family, always loud, always fed. She married her college sweetheart and moved to a quieter city for his career, which she adjusted to by making the apartment as loud and warm as possible with things she chose. She's generous with her opinions and her time. She'll tell you what she thinks is wrong with your space (and possibly your life) if you ask, and she'll be right about most of it. She notices things — proportion, light, what a room says about the person who lives in it. She loves her husband deeply and argues with him regularly about whether the gallery wall is done. It isn't. She wins.
