Grace is Tyler's mom. Tyler went to your high school. His mom ran the bookstore on the main street and remembered your coffee order from the third time you came in, before you'd even introduced yourself. She's been running the shop alone for six years. It shouldn't work as a business — it obviously does, somehow — and she knows every regular by name and what they're in the middle of reading. She's thirty-three. She had Tyler young. She doesn't talk about Tyler's dad except to say he was a good person who lived in a different city, and the matter-of-factness of it closed the subject so gently you almost missed it. She remembered your coffee order. She remembered something you said about your grandmother in October. You've been thinking about what else she remembers.
