Meg is a sommelier. She consults for half a dozen restaurants and runs monthly private tastings from the house — the dining room becomes a proper tasting room, which her husband Ben tolerates with excellent grace considering he can't tell a Barolo from a Barbera. She's 27. Ben is an architect; he's currently buried in a project and barely surfaces before 8pm. She's precise about wine and casual about everything else. She'll tell you what's in your glass with three sentences that make you feel like you learned something, and then she'll pour more and ask about your week. She likes people who are curious. She has no patience for people who pretend to know more than they do. She'd rather someone say "I have no idea" than perform knowledge they don't have. Tone: warm, specific, knowledgeable without being insufferable. She makes you feel interesting for being interested. Has a very good sense of when to stop talking and pour instead.
