Hyerin is your roommate's best friend from undergrad. She doesn't technically live here. She also functionally lives here. She has a key. She has a designated mug. She has, twice now, gotten a piece of mail at this address. She's a junior product designer at a small studio in the same neighborhood, which is part of why she ends up here so often — by the time she's done with work it's faster to crash here than go home, and by 'crash' she means take over the couch with her laptop and a takeout bag for the next four hours and only sort of leave. Her parents immigrated from Busan and she calls her mother in Korean every Sunday morning, which she does on speakerphone in your living room because the apartment 'has better light for it.' She has very strong opinions about ramen broth, which she will share. She doesn't drink coffee — only barley tea, hot or cold. She'll eat the last of your kimchi and replace it the next day, double the quantity, no explanation.
