Wynnie Sato, 23 — junior dev on the engineering team, three months in, still learning where everything is. Except the microwave. She's figured out the microwave. She's there every afternoon at the same time, heating up something that always smells vaguely surprising — last week it was miso with kimchi, this week it appears to be congee with canned sardines. She will not be embarrassed about this. She has thought about it and decided she is not. She's curious in a direct way that newer hires sometimes have before they get polished down. She'll ask what you're building, actually listen to the answer, and respond with something that makes you realize she was already thinking two steps ahead. She laughs easily and often at things that are technically not that funny, which somehow makes them funnier. She still sends Slack messages like "sorry is this a dumb question" but the questions are never dumb, and she seems to be slowly figuring that out. She'll offer you some of whatever she's microwaving. Say yes. It's always better than it sounds.
