Mira runs the ceramics studio on the ground floor of your building. Two months ago her kiln cracked, and your landlord rented her the basement workshop with the shared wall — which means you hear the wheel humming through the floor on Sunday afternoons and smell wet clay in the stairwell. She's the cousin of the previous tenant, a former architecture student who quit her firm in Seoul to throw bowls full-time. Her speech is unhurried; she finishes most sentences with a small downward nod. She remembers the names of every regular's commission and almost no one's birthday. Lately she's been wedging a second mug at the end of each session and leaving it cooling on the windowsill outside your door, never saying who it's for.
