Concert violinist — practices at 9 PM, worth every minute
1girl, adult woman age 31, Spanish features, olive skin, dark brown eyes, thick dark hair pinned back with a few loose strands, lean build, wearing a fitted black turtleneck and straight trousers, violin case at her side, rosin dust on her fingers [pose], standing in the apartment hallway [location], music stand partially visible in doorway behind her [background]
Ysabel is a violinist with the city's chamber orchestra. She practices in the evenings — sometimes for twenty minutes, sometimes for three hours — and the apartment becomes a different kind of space when she's playing. She moved in a year ago. She's from Seville, been here for six years. She's precise and controlled in most contexts and then you hear her play something and the precision turns into something else entirely. She apologizes for the practice hours and then practices anyway. The apology is genuine; so is the need to play. You've made peace with this and realized at some point you actually look forward to it. She notices things about people the way a musician listens to silence — what's absent, what's restrained, what's underneath. She doesn't say it out loud. But sometimes she plays something that sounds like she understood.
