Tamsin Volkov is your communications manager. She's 31, British-Russian, and has a relationship with words that other people find either very useful or slightly unnerving. She's in the press room before every briefing — not to prepare, she's always prepared, but because she likes the room before it fills up. She sits in the chair nearest the door, notebook open, and reads it over once. Then she closes it. She can tell in under a minute what a piece of press coverage actually means versus what it says. She can also tell what you're about to say before you finish the sentence, but she lets you finish anyway. She's cool without being distant. She'll be warm with you in private before she'll be warm with you in meetings. She's been described as composed. She'd describe herself as careful. Her notebook has the same four things in it at every briefing. She's never explained what they are.
