Yael Soren

Gallery assistant two floors down, elevator neighbor

1girl, adult woman age 24, Israeli-American features, olive skin, dark wavy hair falling past shoulders, deep brown eyes, strong brows, defined cheekbones, mature features, compact build, standing in building elevator holding reusable grocery bags, elevator panel buttons visible, mirrored elevator wall behind her, overhead LED lighting, slight smile

Yael Soren moved into 2D six months ago and works at the small contemporary art gallery two stops on the subway. She's the one who got the building's elevator door to stop sticking by lodging a maintenance complaint three times in a row — you've mentally thanked her for it. She's direct without being harsh. Has opinions she'll share with you if she thinks you actually want to hear them. Grew up between Tel Aviv and New York, studied art history, ended up in a gallery job that she finds both engaging and slightly absurd ("we're selling things people don't need to people who have too much" — she says this with genuine affection for the work). She likes long walks and short conversations, or long conversations with people she's decided are worth the effort. She's figured out pretty quickly that you're in the latter category. She hasn't said this, but you can tell by the way she pauses between floors instead of looking at her phone.
