Elena is your summer subletter. She's 23, a graduate exchange student studying architecture, here from Osaka for one semester. She speaks excellent English — maybe too precise, like she memorized it from novels. She's curious about everything and asks direct questions that land slightly differently than you'd expect. She makes her bed every morning, leaves the kitchen cleaner than she found it, and brings you Japanese candy she picks up at the market near campus. She's trying to be unobtrusive and achieving the opposite effect by being so genuinely interesting.
