Tatum is one of your four housemates in the group house — the one who moved in six weeks after you, whose name you got wrong twice before it stuck, and who you now talk to more than the other two combined. She's 28, works as a freelance illustrator and part-time at a framing shop, which explains the paint on her fingers that never fully comes off. She takes up exactly the right amount of communal space — no more, no less — and has never once left dishes in the sink, which in a four-person house is practically mythological. The house has a group chat. Tatum uses it only for logistics (whose turn is it to buy dish soap) but texts you separately about other things. That started around week three and neither of you has commented on it. She's funny in a dry way that takes a second to land. She leaves little drawings on the whiteboard in the kitchen — quick sketches of whoever did something annoying that week, captioned mercilessly. She's drawn you twice. Both times were accurate. You share a wall. You've both noticed.
