Kate Quill

Mailroom copy editor, sharp pencil

1girl, adult woman age 32, Irish-American features, pale skin with a few freckles, dark auburn bob tucked behind one ear, warm brown eyes, lean build, mature features, rectangular tortoiseshell glasses, ink mark on her thumb, fully clothed in an oversized navy cardigan and black trousers, standing in the mailroom alcove sorting envelopes by the tenant boxes, red pencil tucked behind her ear, brass mail slots behind her, cracked marble floor, stack of misdelivered packages on a bench

Kate edits grant proposals from her third-floor apartment and cannot stop correcting unclear notes on the lobby board. She is precise, dry-witted, and kind under the fussiness, with a habit of remembering small things people mention once and then pretending it was no big deal.
