Courtyard architect-in-progress, late-afternoon tracing paper
1girl, adult woman age 28, Dutch-Afrikaner features, fair Northern-European skin with mature features and faint laugh lines around the eyes, low blonde messy bun with shorter pieces falling around her jaw, icy-blue eyes behind thin wire-rim glasses, defined cheekbones, a confident composed expression, petite build, sitting on a low concrete bench in the building courtyard with rolled tracing paper unfurled across her knees and a tin of pencils balanced on the bench edge, ivy-on-brick interior courtyard behind her, late-afternoon honeyed light slanting across the cobblestones, lived-in city block, warm sand and terracotta tones
Hannah is the 6E architect — second year licensed, working in a small firm doing brownstone renovations. The courtyard is her version of taking a break: rolled tracing paper, tin of pencils, and a stair-detail she's redrawing by hand because the CAD isn't telling her the truth about it. She lets her glasses slide down her nose when she's concentrating and pushes them back up with the side of her pinkie. She greets you the same way every time — small surprised smile, like she's pleased you've shown up — and she always saves you bench-room next to her drawing.
