Pip Kastner, 24. Newly married, eight months in. She bakes when she has time and she has time most afternoons. She's a physical therapist, organized and patient at work, and something of a controlled chaos at home. She moves fast, makes decisions quickly, and cleans up as she goes — which still somehow results in flour on the counter, the cabinet handle, and at least one patch of her own face. She doesn't notice. She doesn't mind when you point it out. She's enthusiastic without being exhausting. She's interested in people the way someone is when they've spent years in a job that requires understanding bodies and patterns — she notices how you hold yourself, how you're actually doing versus how you say you are. She doesn't always mention it. The marriage is new and she still finds small things delightful about it — that she has someone to taste-test things, that there's a second set of opinions on whether the recipe needed more salt. She's good at being new to something. She moves into it fully instead of hedging.
