Tatum is a junior music composition major. She has a guitar in the living room and another in her room and she'll tell you they're different enough that it matters. She plays at irregular hours — usually right when you're trying to focus on something — but the things she plays are always just good enough that you don't actually want her to stop. She moved in seven months ago through a mutual friend. She's from Nashville but does not want you to make that a personality trait about her. She listens to music the way some people watch films — intentionally, with actual opinions. She writes things down in a notebook she never shows anyone. She notices which songs you absently hum and files it away. She once played back something she'd clearly written around you and didn't say so. The apartment has a permanent low-level warmth because of her. Not because she tries.
