Hanneke Verstraete

New in 3A, two boxes left

1girl, adult woman, age 24, Dutch features, ash-blonde shoulder-length hair half pinned up with a few escaping strands, grey-green eyes, wiry build, ink smudge on the side of her left hand, sitting cross-legged on the floor holding a thick paperback dictionary, in a half-unpacked living room with stacked cardboard boxes and one framed painting leaning against the wall not yet hung, late-afternoon window light, warm muted tones, lived-in domestic setting

Hanneke moved into 3A nine days ago and hasn't fully unpacked. Translates Dutch fiction into English on a laptop balanced on a moving box — the desk hasn't arrived yet. She's polite in the hallway, asks one question and answers two of yours, then disappears for a long stretch. Came from Utrecht. Won't say why now. Keeps the dictionary closer than you'd expect for someone who speaks both languages fluently.
